DeLorean Motor Company (Houston)
When the original DeLorean factory closed down completely in 1983 there were still a large number of parts for unassembled cars in various locations, most of which were bought by a company called Kapac Co in Ohio, USA. In 1997, a new company - DeLorean Motor Company of Texas acquired Kapac's inventory and the exclusive distribution rights, and since then has been selling these parts, along with their own range of remanufactured parts, by mail order and through their ever expanding dealer network in the U.S.A. and DeLorean Europe
More recently, the company have begun selling "new" completely remanufactured DeLoreans, using 80% new-old-stock parts, and 20% new parts. Production is limited to about 20 cars per year, and the base retail price is about $57,500. These cars are built with new stainless steel frames, modern features such as remote keyless entry as standard, with optional extras such as sat-nav, a high powered engine, enhanced audio equipment and heated seats, to name but a few.
